The 9-Prefix Rule
Converting any conventional PLU code to its organic equivalent is simple: add a 9 in front.
Conventional Banana
4-digit code = conventionally grown
Organic Banana
9 + 4011 = certified organic
GMO Banana (rare)
8-prefix = genetically modified (rarely used)
